5. You’ll Forget You Are on Your Period

Menstrual cups collect menstrual blood internally, so out of sight and out of mind. You can take a shower, run, walk, or swim with no worries. Your favorite activities aren’t ruined due to your time of the month. There have been several times that I have forgotten I am on my period because I no longer have to constantly change tampons, take ibuprofen, or see the blood.

6. You’ll Feel Cleaner (During Your Period) Than You Ever Have Before

I don’t know about you but I feel a little dirty during my period. Since menstrual cups are worn internally you can go about your day without feeling unclean. The blood is being collected out of sight and out of mind. You can take a shower, run, walk, or swim with no worries. Although it is a natural process, it can make you feel unclean especially during the summer when it is hot or humid.

7. Severe Cramps Will Become a Thing of the Past

Some women experience debilitating cramps before and during their period every month. I was one of them. My cramps would be so unbearable it hurt to breathe and after countless trips to the doctor, they had no reasonable explanation why I was in so much pain. It was difficult to go to work, sleep, and even walk. I am not an expert, but I believe it could have been connected to the chemicals we put in our bodies with tampons. I do not have any evidence, but I know after I switch to menstrual cups my cramps went from a 9 on the pain scale to a 2. I am only speaking from my personal experience and the many comments from Facebook groups of other women who have had the same experience.

14. You’ll Wash Your Hands A LOT More

Since we are amid a global pandemic everyone is (should be) washing their hands more often. Once you switch to menstrual cups you will wash your hands a lot more than usual. This is because washing your hands is a crucial part of using your menstrual cup so you will find yourself washing your hands before and after you use the restroom. You’d be surprised how much we are creatures of habit. You will start doing this even when you are not on your period.

15. You CAN Still Pee

I don’t know about you, but I do not like to pee with a tampon. It is awkward and I do not like the wet string afterward, it makes me feel weird. Once you have mastered inserting and removing your menstrual cup, peeing will be easy. You have to keep in mind you do not have to push to get it out. When I started using menstrual cups would push and that would cause my menstrual cup to move down. Instead of pushing simply let it out by relaxing and letting your bladder empty. You can go without having to empty your cup and no there is no dreaded wet string.

BONUS: You’ll Become an Advocate

Once you’ve found your Goldilocks cup you will never turn back and inadvertently become an advocate for menstrual cups. They are too good to pass up and make disposable products look as old as ATARI. (If you don’t know what ATARI, it’s a very old version of a PS4 or XBOX). Menstrual cups are too good not to use, there are so many advantages. Trust me, before you know it you will be talking to all your friends about how menstrual cups changed your period. Who knows, you may start collecting different menstrual cups to try and I don’t blame you. I think the pros of using a menstrual cup will always outweigh the cons.
